Blaine Washington
Blaine, Washington, is Whatcom County's most northwesterly situated town and the busiest border crossing point between British Columbia, Canada and the State of Washington. Situated little more than a half hour from Vancouver, B.C., Blaine is also less than two hours from Seattle. The splendor of Mt. Baker and the North Cascades Mountains to the east, presents a majestic contrast to Semiahmoo Bay and the Straight of Georgia to the west. The Peace Arch State Park spans the US/Canadian border as a monument symbolizing nearly two centuries of peace between the countries. Every year the park features, "Hands Across the Border" ceremony, celebrating peace between the two countries. Throughout the summer, the park exhibits sculptures by international artists. Blaine is also home to the Historic Washington Foot Passenger Ferry, "The Plover", which takes tourists across the bay to the Semiahmoo spit, and the Inn at Semiahmoo, a world class resort community featuring an Arnold Palmer designed championship golf course.
