Orcas Island is the largest of the group of islands known as the San Juans, at approximately 57 square miles. The population was 4,453 according to the 2000 census. Orcas Island is one of four stops on the inter-island Washington State Ferry route. Ferry access to the islands is from the mainland terminal at Anacortes, Washington, a beautiful hour or so ride. There is also Sidney, British Columbia.
