Port Townsend Washington

Port Townsend is the county seat and only incorporated city of Jefferson County, Washington State, USA. The population was 8,334 at the 2000 census. Port Townsend sits at the northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula, just around the corner from the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the Puget Sound's connection with the Pacific Ocean. Many cruising boaters "hang out" in Port Townsend waiting for weather to lift for a crossing of the Strait to the San Juan Islands. The city is known for it's many Victorian era buildings and many cultural events such as the Wooden Boat Festival.
